The lines visible are called "Tension Gashes" and are small veins that open up when rocks get stretched. Often, as in this case, all of these veins are oriented parallel to each other and this shows the direction that the stressors impacted on the rock. The veins fill up with mineral deposits from water percolating through the rock and here, the orange colour is an indicator that iron, perhaps Siderite, is present.
