Araucaria heterophylla

This member of the Pinaceae family is one of a small group of survivors from the ancient southern continent of Gondwanaland. This tree is similar to the Chile Pine, or Monkey Puzzle Tree, of South America, but is unique to Norfolk Island, a small island some 1100 miles northeast of Australia.
