Less common than the pink variety, Blue Shap Granite - actually a trade name as it is neither a true granite or particularly blue - is also mined extensively for use as a decorative stone.. These rocks are a cross between a hornfel and and andesite having undergone metamorphism from the magma plume that created the Shap "Pink" granite intrusion.
